2002 PT Cruiser won't start after timing belt change, can anyone help?

My friend and I just replaced the timing belt in my 02 PT Cruiser and now we can't get it started without the DBR 3 scan tool that the dealership has to reset the computer so it will start. I was wondering if anyone out there knew of an alternative to paying an arm and a leg for a dealership to come fix this problem? Or is there a way to reset the PCM manually?2002 PT Cruiser won't start after timing belt change, can anyone help? The timing belt has no effect on the PCM.

Did the old timing belt break while the engine was running?

The 2.0L and 2.4L engines are interference engines. That means if the belt breaks while it's running the pistons will contact the valves causing bent valves and little or no compression. A quick compression check will confirm this If this is the case the only fix is to remove the cylinder head and take it to a machine shop for a valve job.

If the old belt didnt actually break and you just changes it for maintenance then you have not got the belt on correctly or you've left something unplugged during re-assembly (though I cant imagine what).

Hope this helps you figure it out.2002 PT Cruiser won't start after timing belt change, can anyone help?I don't think that changing the timing belt will cause a fault in the PCM that would cause it not to start. Do you have it timed correctly? Are all three marks lined up right? Why did you replace the belt? Does the engine start then cut out? If you take off the negative terminal on the battery you will clear the PCM and any faults that would have been there will be gone.2002 PT Cruiser won't start after timing belt change, can anyone help?sorry my friend whit out the tool you can do nothing
