Can the idler pulley on a Honda Civic 99 go bad after a timing belt change?

Took the car to get a timing belt change. There were no problems before the service. After the service, there is a rattling sound when the car is idle. Can the idler pulley on a Honda Civic 99 go bad after a timing belt change?the obvious answer is to take the car back to the technician who did the work on it and have them isolate the noise. there are several things that need to be removed and reinstalled to replace the timing belt and %26quot;new%26quot; rattles are usually caused by something that was reinstalled but not tightened properly. the chances of the idler being the source of your noise are remote. more likely its that a shroud is loose or that you have a new noise that is unrelated to the timing belt (you didn't mention how long between the t-belt and the noise). Rattles on civics are ususally from exhaust heat shields or from deteriorated catalytic converters.

hope that helps
