Mechanic question: how to change a timing belt and tensioner on a 97 subaru 2.5 VJ engine?

I'd really appreciate it if someone who knows these engines well could explain step by step how to change the timing belt and tensioner on this engine.

Is there anything that can be done wrong that would cause the tensioner bolt to break?

This is so I can know if the job was done correctly in my car where the tensioner bolt broke 2 1/2 months after a new timing belt and tensioner was installed.

Thanks so much.Mechanic question: how to change a timing belt and tensioner on a 97 subaru 2.5 VJ engine? If the shop offers any kind of warranty at all - and they should - then the fact that a part they replaced 10 weeks ago broke would be something I would expect to be covered.

The bolt could have been over torqued, or they could have re-used the old bolt instead of the new one supplied with the tensioner - stupid, but it can happen.Mechanic question: how to change a timing belt and tensioner on a 97 subaru 2.5 VJ engine?haynes or chilton manual at parts store.you'll need to go there for the belt anyway. these manuals are step by step they even tell you the tools youneed
