thanks! When do you have to change the timing belt on a 1988 honda accord Lx?130k thats a few miles -- im a firm believer in if it works dont mess with it but if you can get a visual of the belt to see if it is cracked or damaged in any way that would let you know if it needs replacedWhen do you have to change the timing belt on a 1988 honda accord Lx?THEY ARE TO BE CHANGED EVERY 35 TO 45 AND SOME WILL NEED TO BE CHANGED OVER EVERY 65 THOUSAND MILES DEPENDING ON THE FACTORY SPECKS BEST THING TO DO IS CALL THE DEALER NEAREST YOU AND ASK THEM AFTER ALL THEY ARE THE ONES WHO WOULD KNOW WHEN IT IS REALLY TIME TO CHANGE THE TIMMING BELT AND HOW MUCH MILAGE YOU CAN GO BEFORE YOU HAVE TO CHANGE THE BELT HOPE THIS HELPS GOD BLESS AND HAVE A GREAT DAY ......................When do you have to change the timing belt on a 1988 honda accord Lx?If you have your owners manual for your 88 Honda it should indicate in there when to change the timing belt along with any other maintenance issue. As far as changing your belt, that all depends on how good of shape your car is currently in. Also to include on how much longer do you want to keep it running. If I were you I would go ahead and change it. It's a 50/50 chance but you don't want to take that risk when indeed that timing belt breaks on you. If it does break your looking at a %26quot;4 figure dollar%26quot; amount fix. Not only will your timing belt be broke but others will be impacted as well like valves, they'll be bent. At that point you've might as well get a new engine or even a new car! Best of Luck
