The 1990-1997 Corolla had a timing belt, but the 1998-2008 Corolla has a timing chain. So, your 2001 Corolla does not require a timing belt change, since it does not have one. There is no prescribed replacement interval for a timing chain.

I believe your car is one of them, check the owners manual for the recommend interval for changing the timing belt. It is much cheaper to change it now, than to repair a bunch of bent valves when it breaks.
