I was told by an independent mechanic that services Volvo vehicles only that I don't have to change the water pump while changing the belt because the water pump is not part of the timing belt tension. He also added that Volvo water pump rarely goes bad. Is there any truth in this claim? Volvo experts, I need your expert opinion.
p.s Other mecs recommends change.Timing belt change 2005 Volvo S40 2.4i %26gt;100K miles?Even if it is not driven by the timing belt, it may be only accessible whilst belt off, however i'd just get it done at that mileage, water pumps cost little compared with the cam belt job.
