When a timing belt fails it can cause the engine to quite running and leave you stranded. At the best, the timing belt will fail when the car is at idle in front of a repair shop or in your drive way.
But it can also fail when you're on the road. Sometimes a timing belt will fail when the engine is running fast. This will cause bent or broken valves or worse.
Any good shop should be able to do the work. Although the time to fix is probably 3 hours (I'm guessing based on my own experience changing mine) expect the car to be at the shop all day. Note david c is incorrect first all Nissan engines using a timing belt since 1991 are 105,000 mile interval belts. second as I previuosly stated KA24 engines use a chain not a belt.
