When should you change the timing belt on a 1993 Ford Tempo?

I know some engines if the timing belt brakes has clearence and won't damage the engine, while others (Like ny 2001 Hyundai accent) will damage the engine. When should you change the timing belt on a 1993 Ford Tempo? You don't. A 1993 Ford Tempo does NOT have a timing belt on it. It uses a timing chain.

To Cooks, NO Ford Tempo engine has EVER used a timing belt EXCEPT the rare '80's models equipped with the Japanese built 2.0L DIESEL. These engines had TWO timing belts. One for the camshaft, and one at the rear of the engine for the fuel injection pump. BUT, the asker DID specify the 2.3L gas engine, so it's a moot point anyway!!!!
